Tesco Loses Battle Against Lidl Over Clubcard Prices Logo
Lidl have won their legal battle with Tesco over their Clubcard logo (a yellow circle on a blue square) infringing Lidl’s trademark. They argued that Tesco had purposely copied their trademark using their reputation for great value. The High Court ruled in favour or Lidl last year and the Court of Appeal confirmed the decision this week, agreeing with the High Court. This means we should expect Tesco to change their Clubcard logo in the coming weeks.

Prince Harry and The Sun Newspaper
Prince Harry has applied to amend his particulars of claim against the Sun Newspaper (News groups Newspapers). This will amend his current claim to include allegation for breach of privacy when he was 10 years old. He claims they used unlawful methods to gather confidential information which includes his welfare and relationship with his mother Princess Diana. The claim includes dates back to 1994.

Telegraph Newspaper
The government have said that they will legislate to stop foreign states from owning newspapers in the UK. This comes after the UAE proposed to buy The Telegraph. Ofcom had found that the UAE may have “an incentive to influence the accurate presentation of news and free expression of option in the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph newspapers”.

Harry Potter Steam Train Suspended
Safety concerns for the passengers of the Jacobite Service have caused the popular service to be suspended. It featured in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and as expected is a popular service. West Coast railways have been battling demands for central locking systems to be fitted onto the carriage doors of this particular train. They are seeking an exemption to be able to carry on the service, and are currently in the process for review, with the exemption application made on 8th March.
